As promised, here’s a little update to explain my blogging absence and get you caught up on everything that’s going on in my life.
Before I launched this blog back in April I should probably have assessed my workload better. Lesson learnt. In the time since then, I have done an awful lot of reading, although it was mainly for my remaining undergraduate essays.
I handed the last essay in to my university at the beginning of August. Now I have all of my results and that chapter is officially done with. It was a very long journey, what with studying part-time and years of illness and difficulty, but I’m incredibly proud of having reached this point.
So, what next? Well, a very big move indeed!
I’m carrying on with my studies, specifically, moving on to a Master’s degree. I’ll continue to focus on literature (of course!) but will throw some art and culture into the mix too. I’m incredibly excited to begin the next phase of my life.
One thing that is a little daunting though, I will be moving across the country in order to do it! I stayed in my hometown for my undergraduate degree, but it’s finally time to go further afield.
That means that in less than a week I will be moving several hundred miles away. I know that might not seem much, but in England it certainly is some distance! At the moment I’m packing my things up and trying to decide what is essential and what can be left at my family home.
Obviously, the main thing I’ve been packing is an absolute tonne of books.
I have so many plans for this blog. It will be my main ‘hobby’ while I do my MA. And being down in London will give me a lot more opportunity to visit museums, galleries, theatres, and arty events, all of which I will be blogging about! I recently purchased an ArtFund card (more to follow on that), so I will definitely be visiting as many cultural/arty things as possible using that.
In the immediate future, I will be posting a few reviews for the books I managed to read for pleasure whilst finishing my degree. I also have a theatre visit to tell you about, a gallery trip, and a few other ‘Bookstagram’ related things to post too! Plenty coming up, for sure.
I hope the last few months have been great for you.
Here’s to a wonderful and exciting Autumn!
